My first netball game in 6 weeks (because of my broken arm) was on Saturday, we played a Te Awamutu Collage team. It was a really hard game but in the first half we were ahead by lots of points. After the first half of playing GA I went into GS. In the third quarter we started to lose points and then TA Collage went ahead by 2 points. After a very long quarter I got put back into GA for the last quarter. We did played really well and ended up winning by 1 point. One of my team mates and I got player of the day because we played really well. Another girl on my team thinks that we make a really good shooting team. We have so many good players on our team this is because we are all friends and nobody dislikes each other which I think is really good.
Confusion
July 22, 2009Confusion is the son of Panic and Worry. He is the nephew of Patience and the older brother of Trust. He is also the younger brother of Doubt. His best friends are Confidence and Patience. His worst enemies are Blame and Anger.
Confusion is a plump little boy with dark curly hair. He wears very different clothes to those his age. He lives in a little pretty house but his room is half messy and half clean. He is 12 years old and plays with dolls instead of riding motorbikes. He wishes that Trust and Doubt didn’t die and that his parents hadn’t gotten divorced. He wishes the most that Patience would stay alive forever. He doesn’t know what his favourite thing is even though it is right under his nose. Patience says that he needs to just tell people what he thinks. When he tries to it comes out all wrong and nobody listens to him.
When Confusion was young he wasn’t confused but when his brother and sister died he became confused and has been like that ever since. Since that happened he hasn’t been able to get a job because he just gets confused. He blames his parents for this but doesn’t know why. Patience is the only one who understands him and helps him. She tells him why blames his parents for not been able to get a job. Patience has taken him in because his parents are divorced and don’t know what to do with him any more.
Confusion finds it hard to learn things so Confidence helps him by telling him that if he puts his mind to it he will find out what to do. Confusion never knows what he means so he just goes along with it. When they were really little Confusion understood everything that Confidence told him. Since the night Confusion became confused he hasn’t been able to understand a thing his friend says.
:) Happiness :)
July 22, 2009Happiness is the daughter of Pleasure and Joy. She is the mother of Perfection. She is an only child and loves her parents as much as her daughter. When Perfection was born Happiness always told her “Life is too short to hold regrets; make the most of life while it’s in hand reaching distance.”
All her friends would describe Happiness “as a Ray of sunshine that makes everything go the right way.” Her best friend is Hope and she never wants to hate anyone. Her friends and family thinks that she is the prettiest person in the world but she always says that no one can be the prettiest in the world because everyone is unique in their own special way.
She always puts little ribbons and colourful hair ties in her blonde hair. When she has these things in her hair she looks like what she did at 5 years old. She wears bright colours that make her stand out and is always wearing a smile.
Happiness and Perfection live in a little cottage that is always clean and tidy. There cottage over looks a little forest that she always goes for walks in.
If Happiness walks past you, you would smile at her just because of who she is. Happiness works in a children’s hospital in town. When she walks in there all the sick little children smile at her. She will always do anything for her family and makes them as happy as ever.
Happiness has never wanted something that she doesn’t need. But she wants a brother or sister to make her just a little bit happier. Happiness believes that everyone can be happy even Sadness. When she sees Sadness she tries to make him smile but it never works. She also knows that everything will turn out all right if you believe it will.
Happiness is inside all of us just waiting for that right moment to come out. She has been apart of our lives forever and you will know when she is here.
The Party!
July 22, 2009The women are making toys but won’t let us help. They say it is for something special. Hi my name is Rivkah and this is my friends, the children. We live in hut 18, bed 22. This is my best friend Shmuel and look at Ariel. He is so skinny wrapped up in his fathers rags. The chickens that Lise told us she used to have are fatter then him.
Lise is one of the older women, she takes care of us. Lise says that she remembers what it was like before but I only know this place, this horrible, scary place as my home. All of us think this is our home. Lise tells us about her room and own bed. She tells us of the food she once had before they took it away.
She also tells us about her family, she has a photo of them. We like to know about her family, so she tells us this. “My mother’s name is Esther and my fathers name is Omar and my brother’s name is Zeke. I don’t know my sisters name because she died when I was little. We lived in a little village but I can’t remember what it was called.”
The women say today we are going to have a party I don’t know what they mean. There are lots of loud bangs outside I want to go and see what is happening I ask Lise to take me out side so she does. I see what they mean the English are here to save us, we are free. I get to ride on the back of the trucks that they bring to pick us up in. It’s nice and warm.
That night we have a big party to celebrate our lives and to thank god for saving us. Lise gave me my very own elephant. It is made from all the rags of the adult’s clothes. My elephant is lots of different colours like purple, blue and orange. I said that when I move into my very own room I will put it on my dresser and make sure it is very tidy and pretty. The adults gave Shmuel a little bear and Ariel a cat. All the children got their very own toy some got bears others got dolls. Now we have made a very special surprise for Ariel we have spent a lot of time making his fathers rags into a little blanket. All the children helped us to do this and now we will give it back to him…… He loves it he thinks it is the best present ever.
The Devils Arithmetic
July 22, 2009The Devils Arithmetic is about a teenage girl named Hannah Stern (Played by Kristen Dunset.) Now Hannah is a Jew but doesn’t know anything about her aunt Eva’s past (Played by Louise Fletcher) or her family. Now Hannah has everything a teenage girl would want, friends, popularity, a big house and lots of money. One night she has to go to her Aunt Eva’s house for a Passover. Now she has to open the door for Elijah. When she does open the door she goes back to 1941 when the holocaust happened. Now Hannah had been sick for a long time while this had happened her parents had been killed. One day Hannah and her cousin Rivkha (played by Brittany Murphy) who is actually her aunt Eva go to a wedding. Now while they were at the wedding some Nazi Police came and took them to a concentration camp. Will Hannah learn all about her aunt Eva’s past or will she never understand what she went through?
This engaging movie is directed by Donna Deitch. It lets you really feel what some people went through in the holocaust. It also shows you what people did for each other when it was time to go. All the actors in this movie played their parts really well. The played the scared and upset parts of people’s lives like as if they were really in the holocaust. To me it was like a really sad love story because she meets the most wonderful guy and he ends up dying, but she knew this because of what her uncle Morris (played by Louis Negin) told her.
What I didn’t like was that the Nazis didn’t seem as mean as what they would in real life. Also I didn’t like that the start had nothing to do with anything. I also didn’t like the part where Hannah told all the stuff to her aunt Eva. I think that it was really stupid because people wouldn’t really find out all about the aunts past that easily. Also because it was really boring like at the start when she was getting a tattoo.
I really liked Aunt Eva the most because she stayed in character all the time. Like in the end when Hannah told her everything about her past she seemed really scared that her niece could know so much without being told.. Also when Hannah and her mum and dad first turned up to the Passover and aunt Eva made sure that Hannah had a part in the Passover. I also liked Hannah because she acted like a spoilt brat at the start and after going back to 1941 she had changed because she had been through what some people have been through during the holocaust.
My Holidays
July 22, 2009Hey guys it’s the fourth day of term three for me. The first week of the holidays I went to my granddads house on the farm but I only went on the farm once. He had to three little lambs which I played with on one of the hills they were so cute. Two of them were twins and one of them was a single lamb. The second week until Thursday I went to Taumarunui to stay with my auntie Sarah and uncle Todd and baby cousin Sophie. While I was there I watched a movie called The Strangers which is about three people a boy and two girls who play cat and mouse with this couple. In a part of it I screamed and it was just me and my baby cousin when I screamed and as soon as I screamed she screamed. I also went horse riding on a horse named Ned. From Friday to Sunday I went to the beach. My friend Tiffany and I where walking around late at night with my brother and her brother. Tiffany and I were both really scared so we both tried to go into the middle at the same time when her 10 year old brother head butted me in the eye and gave me a black eye.
Please leave a comment and tell me what you got up to during the holidays I hope you all had as much fun as I did.
